Planned Parenthood Employees View Abortion as ‘Rite of Passage,’ Former Nurse Says; Shares Disturbing Behavior of Doctors BY STOYAN ZAIMOV, CHRISTIAN POST REPORTER

A former Planned Parenthood nurse said that employees at the abortion facility in Indianapolis view abortion as a “rite of passage,” and described the institution as an “evil and sad place to work,” revealing some of the disturbing behavior of its doctors.

Marianne Anderson, who worked at Planned Parenthood from 2010 to 2012, shared in an interview last week with The Criterion, newspaper of the Indianapolis Archdiocese, that she began feeling uneasy about her job starting up patients’ conscious sedation program when people from the national office in New York came to teach them the process.

“It was disgusting. These two ladies had this chant they would do: ‘Abortion all the time!’ I thought, ‘I’ve got to get out of here.’ That was about six to eight months after I started,” Anderson said.

“Those women from New York acted like an abortion was a rite of passage. They were like, ‘How can you not offer abortion to women? It’s their body. They should be able to do whatever they want. How can you force them to have a baby? Abortion should be free to anybody, anytime.'”

Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky declined to comment to The Christian Post on Thursday.

In her interview, Anderson went into detail about some of the experiences around her job that stuck with her, including treating a Korean girl she was sure was a sex slave. She also described the disturbing behavior of some of the doctors:

“One doctor, when he was in the POC (products of conception) room, would talk to the aborted baby while looking for all the parts. ‘Come on, little arm, I know you’re here! Now you stop hiding from me!’ It just made me sick to my stomach,” she continued.

“The sound the suction machine made when it turned on still haunts me.”

The former nurse said that 20-30 abortions were carried out a day at the facility where she worked, including medical abortion by pill.

She described her former place of employment as a “money-grubbing, evil, very sad, sad place to work.”

“You have to have so many [abortions] a month to stay open. In our meetings they’d tell us, ‘If abortions are down, you could get sent home early and not get as many hours,'” she revealed.

“They would allow girls to have ultrasounds that were obviously way too far along [the legal limit for having an abortion in Indiana is 13 weeks and six days]. They said, ‘If they want to be seen, you just put them through, no problem,’ just taking advantage to make money.”

Anderson was fired from her job in July 2012, though she said she had planned on quitting anyway. She was then hired by Community North [Hospital], a job which she says she loves.

“God didn’t give us the right to take another life. I don’t seek revenge. I just want to right a wrong,” she said as she described why she began to speak publicly about her experience. She noted that she joined And Then There Were None, a nonprofit organization to help former Planned Parenthood workers heal from their former work, which helped her deal with regret over abortions she assisted with.

Last week, Planned Parenthood settled a wrongful death case where the abortion provider agreed to pay $2 million to the family of a botched abortion victim, 24-year-old Tonya Reaves, who died following a late-term abortion at a PP facility in Chicago on July 20, 2012. Pro-life groups were upset that the punishment did not go far enough.

Planned Parenthood Says It’s Proud to Provide Abortions; Reacts to Study Claiming Abortions Are at All-Time Low Since 1973 BY MELISSA BARNHART, CP REPORTER

Reacting to a report from the Guttmacher Institute that claims abortions are at an all-time low since the procedure became legal in 1973, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards says she’s “proud” that the organization provides multiple forms of abortion services to its pregnant clients.

“Planned Parenthood is proud to provide abortion services for women who make the deeply personal decision to end a pregnancy, [and] we are proud to fight for a woman’s right to make that decision without interference from politicians,” said Richards, who once served as deputy chief of staff for House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, and is the daughter of former Democratic governor of Texas Ann Richards.

The Christian Post recently reported that the Guttmacher Institute, a research institute that supports abortion rights, will release a report in March in which it claims that the number of abortions had dropped in 2011 to its lowest point since 1973.

According to the Guttmacher Institute study, between 2011 and 2008, abortions declined by 13 percent; and there were about 1.06 million abortions in 2011, as compared to roughly 1.2 million in 2008.

The abortion rate dropped to 16.9 abortions per 1,000 women ages 15 to 44 in 2011, down from 29.3 in 1981. It’s the lowest since 1973 when the rate was 16.3, says the study.

The study also notes that about 239,400 abortions entailing early medication procedures were performed in 2011, representing 23 percent of all non-hospital abortions, an increase from 17 percent in 2008.

Michael J. New, an assistant professor at the University of Michigan–Dearborn and an associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute, believes the Guttmacher study cannot be trusted as being completely accurate.

New wrote in National Review Online that “21 percent of abortion facilities refuse to take part in the survey. And he added that the study doesn’t “provide any information about the percentage of abortions that occur after 20 weeks gestation.”

Richards of Planned Parenthood claims that one reason for the decline in suction, cutting and evacuation methods of abortion can be attributed to the increasing number of women who seek out abortions early enough to have a medication-induced abortion.

“One important finding in this report is that women who do decide to end a pregnancy are increasingly using medication abortion…,” said Richards, who’s fighting a Texas law that passed in July that requires abortionists to be present, in-office, each time abortion-inducing drugs are dispensed to their clients.

According to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers that are fighting these new state regulations, it’s safer for women to ingest abortion inducing drugs at home, and pass and dispose of the aborted baby by themselves, rather than have the assistance of abortionists and their staff who are required to properly dispose of aborted remains.

The Texas law that was passed in July bans abortion at 20 weeks gestation (except in cases where the mother faces a medical emergency), requires abortionists to follow FDA guidelines for dispensing abortion-inducing drugs, and requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at a hospital located within 30 miles in cases of emergency caused by the procedure.

In November Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union and other pro-abortion groups appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate a Texas district court’s injunction that blocked a portion of the law requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, citing that it would close a majority of abortion clinics in the state and block women’s access to abortion.

The appeal was filed with Justice Antonin Scalia, who referred the issue to the nine-member court, which in a 5-4 decision, allowed Texas’ abortion regulations to stand. The majority of the court found that Planned Parenthood, et. al., had not met the requirement for setting aside the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals’ order permitting the law to take effect.

Subseqently, the case was argued in January before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, La., which is reviewing the portion of the law that requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at a hospital located within 30 miles of the abortion facility where they practice.

Pro-life legislation passes in the House

Last month, one week after the anniversary of the controversial Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a sweeping pro-life bill.

Known as HR 7 or the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” the House voted 227 to 188 in favor of the proposed legislation. HR 7 has multiple components to it that focus on removing government funding of abortion and benefits for abortion coverage.

Introduced by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), HR 7’s aims bear resemblance to the Hyde Amendment, which gets renewed every session by Congress. Smith’s goal with HR 7 is to make the Hyde Amendment provisions permanent and no longer in need of annual renewal.

In August, the Government Accountability Office also announced that it would be investigating Planned Parenthood’s use of taxpayers’ dollars amid recent cases against abortion providers who’ve fraudulently over-billed Medicaid and other family planning programs.

This decision was made after a group of more than 50 members of Congress, including Reps. Diane Black (R-Tenn.), Pete Olson (R-Texas) and Senator David Vitter (R-La.), requested a report from the GAO on how taxpayer funding is specifically used by Planned Parenthood and other organizations that perform abortions.

“Planned Parenthood performed a record 333,964 abortions last year – almost 1 million in the past three years,” Vitter said last February. “At the same time, they also received more federal taxpayer dollars than ever before – a record $542 million, an 11 percent increase over the past two years. Planned Parenthood and other organizations that provide abortions clearly benefit from Uncle Sam, but there’s no accounting to prove how they actually use that money. This GAO report would shine a light on how our tax dollars are being spent.”

Michael J. Norton, senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, which has filed lawsuits against Planned Parenthood, told CP that the organization has, during the past few years, released reports to Congress that have identified waste, abuse and potential fraud by Planned Parenthood, state family programs and other organizations, as well as potential fraud by Planned Parenthood affiliates relating to grants from Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“We have been focusing on Planned Parenthood’s waste, abuse and potential fraud, and to identify Planned Parenthood as significantly taking advantage of well-funded, poorly addressed family planning programs in particular,” Norton said. “Audits and other reviews of Planned Parenthood affiliates’ financial data and practices – as well as 45 audits of state family planning programs and one audit of a family planning organization – found more than $108 million in waste, abuse and potential fraud. Taxpayer money is only supposed to be used responsibly and for the common good.”

5 Abortion Myths Debunked By Pro-Life Activists BY TYLER O’NEIL , CP REPORTER

UPPER MARLBORO, Maryland — Pro-Life activists addressed five myths which support a culture of abortion at the 2014 Students for Life of America National Conference.

“The principle reason why I am passionate about the pro-life issue is because I believe there’s an empty grave in the Middle East that used to be occupied by Jesus of Nazareth,” Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, declared. Moore added that Jesus “is a former embryo, a former zygote, a former fetus, a former crisis pregnancy who is now the ruler of the entire universe.”

Below are the top 5 myths discussed at the conference. Myth number one was not discussed at the conference because the speaker was snowed in, but he spoke to The Christian Post in an interview on Wednesday.

1. Abortion is needed because of overpopulation

“A lot of people think they are doing the socially responsible thing by not having children,” but they are actually making society poorer as a result, argued Steven Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute (PRI).

Contrary to what most professors tell their students, Mosher declared that “the socially responsible thing is to have children — providing the future consumers, the future producers, and the future taxpayers.” The PRI president argued that if American families had an average of three children, “Social Security would be solvent forever,” and if the 56 million babies aborted since Roe vs. Wade were working in our society, the deficit would be half or less than half what it is now. He also pointed to social science showing that children raised in large families have lower rates of crime, drug use, and premarital sex.

  • “The good book says that babies are a blessing for multiple reasons — for any Christian to believe the opposite is incomprehensible,” Mosher added. Nevertheless, Mosher said population control activists helped legalize abortion, and their ideas still dominate college campuses. He mentioned a population foundation set up by John D. Rockefeller III which suggested legalized abortion and a two-child policy for the United States.

“They think of children as stomachs, and they forget that every stomach has two hands attached,” Mosher explained. “Ever baby killed by abortion makes us all poor.”

2. “Safe Sex” is Safe.

Kevin Bagetta, president of Love Facts, argued that there is no such thing as “safe sex.” He cited statistics showing the contraception does not prevent all pregnancies or Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), and argued that “sexual abstinence is the only way to 100 percent avoid STDs and pregnancy.”

“15 percent of those who use condoms 100 percent of the time still get STDs,” Bagetta declared. He also reported that “21 percent of teen women using contraception will be pregnant within two years.” Begetta suggested the site LoveFacts.org for more information about the “Risky Life Style” and “STD Roulette” involved in “safe sex.”

While “safe sex” can have these harmful consequences, he argued, a chaste life does not. Abstinence means no STDs, no emotional heartache, no loss of freedom, and no abortion.

3. You need abortion to protect the health of women

Marguerite Duane, associate professor of Family Medicine at Georgetown University, argued that “it is never necessary to have an abortion for a woman’s health.”

As a medical professional, Duane addressed pregnancy situations where some doctors suggest abortion to protect the mother. In the case of an ectopic pregnancy, where the baby grows outside the womb, the professor laid out four options, discussing the morality of each.

The “watch and wait” option, where the doctor monitors the pregnancy and allows a natural miscarriage, is not abortion, and so is acceptable. Two other options – an abortefacient drug and cutting the baby out – are abortion and immoral. But the last option, that of removing the tube in which the embryo grows, is not immoral because it involves removing a diseased organ, not directly attacking the baby.

In this case, however, the surgery is not an abortion, because the goal is to save the mother and the child’s death is only a consequence of helping her. According to the principle of double effect, Duane argued, this sort of procedure is neither abortion nor immoral.

4. Adoption is Worse Than Abortion

Russell Moore declared that “nothing is more contrary to human reason or human compassion” than the argument that it is better for a woman in a crisis pregnancy to abort her child than to make an adoption plan.

The idea that abortion is better than adoption, Moore argued, comes from the myth that abortion erases pregnancy. But rather than erase the reality of pregnancy, “abortion simply deals lethally, cruelly, and mercilessly with one of those two people to leave the other deeply, deeply broken.” Moore emphasized that “those of us who have spent years counseling with, loving, and walking alongside people who deeply regret abortions realize” that abortion carries moral and emotional consequences.

Moore also addressed the stigma of adoption, both for the mother and the adopting parents. While Moore celebrated that the shame in adopting has largely disappeared, he lamented the myth that “making an adoption plan for one’s child is a loss of control or choice.” Instead, he argued, mothers wishing to give their children up for adoption have a great deal of control over who will adopt the baby, and “the act of choosing to give life and a future and a story to her child is an act of heroism.”

5. Abortion could never be made illegal.

“Do you know abortion was illegal?” asked Steve Aden, senior counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom. He noted that abortion was illegal under English and American common law for 700 years, and it only became legal in his lifetime. Rather than asking “can you really make abortion illegal?” Aden said people should ask “can you really make abortion illegal again?”

Despite over half a billion dollars per year in funding for “big abortion,” Aden explained that the abortion lobby could not pass “the so-called Freedom of Choice Act in 2009,” which would have made “making abortion illegal, illegal.” Aden also praised the state legislatures in 2013 for introducing over 300 abortion restrictions. “Abortion is already against the law in most states for many purposes,” he declared, and “the pro-life movement is already taking abortion down to levels we haven’t seen since the late 1970s.”

In light of this progress, Aden predicted the abortion industry will go extinct, declaring “big abortion is a dinosaur on a leash.”

AS PRO-LIFERS MARCH ON WASHINGTON, OBAMA SAYS ABORTION HELPS WOMEN ‘FULFILL THEIR DREAMS’ by ROBERT WILDE

As winter storms barrage the east coast of the US and a wind chill temperature of minus eight degrees freezes DC, hundreds of thousands of pro-life advocates are in the nation’s capitol  for the 41st annual March for Life event on Wednesday.

Today marks the 41st anniversary of Roe v. WadeAlong with its companion Doe v. Bolton, abortion was legalized in all nine months of pregnancy, for any reason, in the United States. Last year, it was estimated that 500,000 pro-life advocates demonstrated against abortion on the 40th anniversary of the crucial supreme court decision. The rallies will be covered on social media outlets, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, using 360 degree cameras for those who want to experience the events online.

On Wednesday, Pope Francis sent out a tweet supporting the pro-life marchers and offering his prayers: “I join the March for Life in Washington with my prayers. May God help us respect all life, especially the most vulnerable,” he tweeted.

On a day set aside to mourn the sadness, hardship, and pain associated with abortion, President Obama praised Roe v Wade as a great moment in history for women, saying that today, “We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to protecting a woman’s access to safe, affordable health care and her constitutional right to privacy, including the right to reproductive freedom.  And we resolve to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, support maternal and child health, and continue to build safe and healthy communities for all our children. Because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.”

It is estimated that over 55 million abortions have been performed since 1973, the year it was legalized. If you do the math on those appalling figures, the numbers are deeply disturbing:

1.382 million abortions every year
115,167 abortions every month
26,577 abortions every week
3,786 abortions every day
157 abortions every hour
2.6 abortions every minute

Abortion: It’s More than Stats By: Chris Johnson

January 22nd marks the darkest and most damning anniversary in U.S. History; that day in 2014 marks the 41st year since the American Government legalized the genocide of the most innocent.

Abortion is a frustrating subject to write on.

What can we say that has not been said? What arguments can we make that have not been argued?

We are left quoting statistics of dead children; reciting numbers rather than remembering the names they were never given.

We stare frustrated by graphs showing the public’s opinion on whether it’s ok to violently end a child’s life… provided they are still in the womb.

It’s frustrating because so many tears have been spent and so many hours given to protect the unrealized lives of the future of America and still the body count ticks up.

56,662,169.

That is the National Right to Life’s estimated number of babies killed in the womb since 1973 as of last week. The number is higher now.

But that’s not the whole story.

Yes, there are tens of millions of holes in the fabric of America, but there are also many who can say, “I chose to carry my child, because of someone praying for me as I walked into an abortion clinic” or “I knew it would be hard, but I decided to give my baby up to be adopted, because I spoke to someone at an Alpha Women’s Center.” There are many who can say, “my mom gave me life and sacrificed so that I could keep it.”

Abortion is a depressing topic with many horror stories that bring tears to our eyes, but there are also many stories of hope that bring tears of joy to our eyes.

While it’s easy to get bogged down in the slow progress of this, the human rights issue of our day, there are bright spots.

It does seem as if public opinion is swinging our way, as more and more young people are siding against abortion.

Not only that, but every success story is a story of saving a life and that is always a cause for joy.

On the 41st anniversary of Roe v Wade, let us pray fervently that God would put an end to the unspeakable horror of abortion and that it would not have a 42nd anniversary. Let us also pray for guidance on how we can be used in this fight against the greatest of evils.

In looking at one of the “bright spots” in the wake of this devastation, we’d encourage you to watch the movie “I was wrong.”.

“I was wrong.”is a 30 minute documentary which shows the effort that Norma McCorvey (“Jane Roe” of Roe v Wade) has put into getting the Supreme Court decision, which bears her “name,” overturned.  This movie shows the ugliness of abortion; but, it also shows the beauty of redemption and the peace of forgiveness that Jesus brings to those who will turn to Him.

We are offering the DVD “I was wrong.” for $10.00 (+ S.H).  You can order it online by clicking here.

Thank You Mommy For Killing Me!

If the enemies of Planned Parenthood wanted to make them look bad, they could not done have a better job than the baby-killing corporation did with its new slogan and ad campaign. The slogan? “Care. No matter what.” The ad campaign, “Your Baby Will Thank You.”

Too bad Dr. Kermit Gosnell didn’t think of the slogan first. He could have boasted, “We provide baby-killing care no matter what. In the womb. Outside the womb. Early in the pregnancy. Late in the pregnancy. You just come in pregnant, we guarantee you’ll leave without a baby – although we might just keep some of the baby parts as trophies of the excellent ‘care’ we provide.”

Yes, mothers, your babies would certainly have thanked you for bringing them to such a caring doctor: “Mommy, I started to whimper and I was so afraid, but then that nice man snipped my spine, and I didn’t feel anything anymore.”

Here in Charlotte, North Carolina, the city’s busiest abortion clinic (located on Latrobe Drive), provided a different level of “care” for its customers. This week, it was temporarily shut down after, “Inspectors from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services conducted a surprise visit to Latrobe April 19-20 and did additional investigation work in late April and early May.

“They found ‘that conditions at A Preferred Women’s Health Center, LLC, present an imminent danger to the health, safety and welfare of the clients and that emergency action is required to protect the clients.’

“They found that the facility was improperly administering chemical abortions and improperly examining post-abortive women before they were discharged from surgery. . . . These health violations come on the heels of a similar investigation in December, when state inspectors found dead insects, blood splatters and dirty surgical instruments inside the abortion facility.” (This is a link to the actual report.)

The Latrobe clinic also failed to reassemble the body parts of the aborted babies – clinically and coldly called the P.O.C., or “products of conception” – a procedure which is intended to ensure that the mother’s uterus is completely emptied of any baby remains.

At Latrobe, mothers had to return to get some of the leftover “products of conception” evacuated from their wombs. Planned Parenthood should be proud of the extra “care”! (Of course, these “products of conception” soon become “medical waste,” so, not to worry.)

And what would the babies have to say about this? “Thank you, Mommy, for bringing me to such a wonderful, caring place. When the nice doctor realized that he left my arm in your belly, he took it out the next time free of charge.”

Apparently the folks at Latrobe weren’t as careful with their trophies as Dr. Gosnell was. But then again, Dr. Gosnell didn’t have the same way with words as did another colleague with his own house of horrors, late-term abortion specialist Dr. Leroy Carhart.

As documented in a chilling video, Dr. Carhart had this dialogue with a prospective patient:

Woman: So I’ll have a dead baby in me?

Dr. Carhart: For 3 days, yeah.

Woman: Will it start to decay or something?

Dr. Carhart No, it’s like putting meat in a Crock-Pot, okay? . . . in a slow cooker

Woman: . . . And what do you use to break it up? Just –

Dr. Carhart: A whole bunch of, you know –

Woman: You’ve got a toolkit.

Dr. Carhart: A pickaxe, a drill bit, you know . . .

“Oh Mommy, I really like this doctor. He has a special toolkit for sucking out my brains, and he thinks I’m really special, like ‘meat in a Crock-Pot.’ Can we see Dr. Carhart if you decide to abort me too late for the other nice doctors and nurses?”

Yes, dear mothers, as Planned Parenthood says proudly, your baby will thank you.

And, according to Dr. Carhart, the mothers will then thank him:

Dr. Carhart: And I think out of respect and love and honor for this baby that you’ve lost, you will find yourself being a better person . . . postpartum depression is really very common, but post-abortion depression? I can honestly tell you that I haven’t seen one — one person that way, and . . . . . I’ve not had anybody leave there feeling worse than they came.

In fact, it seems that lots of people are thanking doctors like Leroy Carhart these days. His few colleagues who continue to perform the barbaric, late-term procedures, have been celebrated in a new film entitled After Tiller, which “chronicles the lives of the only [four] physicians in the country still performing third-trimester abortions in the wake of the assassination of Dr. George Tiller in 2009.

“The audience [at the Sundance Film Festival] gave a standing ovation for the filmmakers as well as the four featured doctors who were on hand to take questions from the audience after the film.”

Yes, let’s all rise and applaud these noble and courageous doctors. And while we’re at it, let’s all thank Planned Parenthood for caring, no matter what. Unfortunately, it will be hard to hear our voices over the din of 55 million babies as they join together with one voice and say, “Thank you Mommy for killing me!”

Oh yes, I know that millions of moms agonized over the decisions they made and many live with guilt until this day. All the more then must Planned Parenthood be exposed.

Gosnell’s ‘Clinic of Horrors’

It was the pictures and riveting testimony that convinced a Philadelphia jury that abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell was guilty of murdering three infants born alive following botched late-term abortions and also guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of Karnamaya Mongar, who overdosed on Demerol during an abortion at Gosnell’s clinic.

How ironic that the Gosnell decision was delivered the day after Mother’s Day.

The two-month trial has reignited the abortion debate. But while many states have managed to impose some restrictions on abortion clinics and establish informed consent laws and in some cases require a woman to view a sonogram before aborting an unborn child, abortion on demand for almost any reason and at almost any stage of pregnancy remains legal in every state.

Maybe you heard about the Gosnell trial, maybe you didn’t. Big media (except for Fox) certainly didn’t give it a lot of play. One big media outlet, ABC News, refused even to cover it until it was nearly over. According to the Media Research Center, “ABC went from March 18, 2013 (the trial’s start) through Monday afternoon with no coverage. Yet during the same time, the network devoted a staggering 187 minutes (or 70 segments) to other shocking criminal cases, such as Jodi Arias and Amanda Knox.” That’s 56 days of zero coverage. Why the blackout?

Veterinary clinics appear better regulated than many abortion clinics in this country, but the cleanliness and age of the buildings and instruments isn’t the point. It’s the estimated 55 million children — and counting — who are denied their right to live.

Some pagan cultures of old practiced child sacrifice to appease ancient deities. What happened at Gosnell’s clinic was a modern version of child sacrifice to our “god” of convenience and self-interest. In this case, as in all other clinics and hospitals that perform abortions, the practice is also for the purpose of appeasing the abortion on demand “gods” who champion “a woman’s right to choose” rather than a child’s right to live.

Choose what? Choose death over life, oneself over the life of an innocent? Why destroy a baby when there are thousands of loving parents out there willing to adopt a child?

“Former clinic employees testified that Gosnell routinely performed illegal abortions past Pennsylvania’s 24-week limit,” writes the Huffington Post, “that he delivered babies who were still moving, whimpering or breathing, and that he and his assistants dispatched the newborns by ‘snipping’ their spines…”

This sounds like something out of a Nazi death camp. Yet our views on abortion, apparently, hold firm.

The Washington Post reports, “Views of abortion have remained steady for years and a recent Gallup poll showed that the Gosnell trial has not altered them. About a quarter of Americans said abortion should be legal in all circumstances, according to a poll conducted at the height of the trial. Twenty percent said it should always be illegal, and just over half said it should be legal in some circumstances.”

All circumstances? Gosnell snipped the spines of aborted babies, many born viable at 24 weeks.

“Kermit Gosnell is the tip of the iceberg,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a nonprofit organization that seeks to eliminate abortion in the U.S., told the Washington Times. “There has been multi-state breakdown of oversight in the abortion industry, as well as the barbarism of abortions performed on children capable of feeling pain and surviving outside the womb.”

Oversight, yes, but we also need a rollback on abortions, especially on late-term abortions. Viable lives should be saved.

The Gosnell trial should be a turning point in the abortion wars. Pro-life members of Congress should introduce legislation restricting abortion in the final trimester in all states. Abortion should again be an issue in next year’s campaign for House and Senate seats. Tightly argued court cases should be brought before the courts so that the Supreme Court can begin to right the wrong of Roe v. Wade, a decision that even liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg now acknowledges could have benefited from some “judicial restraint.”

The time has come. More babies and women can and must be saved.

Six Arrested for Praying at White House in Opposition to the Obama Mandate

Washington, DC – Six pro-life activists, including a Catholic Priest, were arrested yesterday outside the White House for kneeling in prayer in opposition to the Obama Administration’s mandate compelling groups of faith to provide insurance to employees that would cover abortion-causing drugs.

Led by Rev. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition, a group of about thirty activists had gathered on the sidewalk outside the White House to pray and peacefully protest the immoral mandate.  It is legal to demonstrate at that site as long as one continues to move. Once the six protesters knelt in prayer, they were arrested for disobeying a lawful order.  They were released a short time later after they each paid a $100 fine.  Rev. Mahoney was the first to be arrested.

Also arrested was Fr. Denis Wilde, the Associate Director of Priests for Life, whose organization filed suit in Federal Court yesterday against the mandate issued by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, a radical supporter of unrestricted abortion.

Occupy Wall Street protesters have been occupying federal property for months, but when we kneel in prayer, the police are called in and we are arrested,” Father Wilde said. “We knew that was the risk when we gathered today, and we will do it again regardless of the risk. What people of faith — of every faith — need to do now is stand with us.”

“These were the first arrests in opposition to the immoral Obama Mandate, but they won’t be the last.  Our freedom to exercise our religious beliefs without government coercion is one of our most precious liberties.  We cannot bow to tyranny or be forced to participate in the taking of innocent human life against our consciences.  Peaceful protects and civil disobedience can be expected to continue until Obama rescinds the mandate,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman, who is also head of Pro-Life Nation.

Participating in the protest were members the Christian Defense Coalition, Operation Rescue, Rock for Life, Students for Life of America, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, and Stand True.

How Abortion Has Changed America

The trial of Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell, facing the death penalty for the deaths of four infants and one woman in his clinic, is over. America has moved on.

It’s exactly what the pro-abortion contingent wants. They want Gosnell out of the news because they want abortion out of the news. Ongoing discussion provokes thought about the status quo. And pro-aborts want to keep things as they are.

And, they have reason to be confident.

Our president, whom no one can accuse of not being politically astute, showed up this week, despite the Gosnell story, as the first sitting president ever to address Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

When Kirsten Powers brought attention to Gosnell, with her USA Today column, she said it wasn’t about abortion. “This is not about being pro-choice or pro-life,” she wrote. “It is about human rights.”

For Powers, the story was about lack of supervision. And, of course, where abortions are carried out legally, clinics should be supervised and inspected.

But to leave the story there is to be content with the tip of the iceberg. And the whole iceberg is a huge story that all of America should be looking at.

The whole iceberg is bigger than abortion itself. It is about how profoundly America has changed since Roe v Wade, in 1973, made abortion an accepted part of American life.

Let’s be clear that pro-aborts and pro-lifers differ on far more than technicalities about when life begins. They differ about what life is.

In the state of Pennsylvania, where Gosnell was doing his dirty business, abortion is legal until the developing child is 24 weeks – 6 months – old. Among Gosnell’s many transgressions was performing abortions after 24 weeks.

But Planned Parenthood, and their guest speaker, our president, oppose that 24-week limit. They believe abortion should be legal until the child is born.

In 2007, shortly after the US Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, which banned a brutal abortion procedure most commonly used to destroy infants from 15 to 26 weeks old, then-Senator Obama spoke at a Planned Parenthood event and decried the decision. He called it part of a “concerted effort to steadily roll back” access to abortion.

Justice Kennedy, who wrote the decision, included a description of one of these procedures on a 26-week-old infant. It takes a certain deadening of the heart, of the soul to read the description of the little baby clasping his fingers and toes as the doctor jams his scissors into his skull , and still believe this should be permitted.

Since Roe v Wade, we’ve given birth to a new materialistic culture of narcissism where reverence for life itself is gone. Life has become a commodity and people use each other as cavalierly as they destroy innocent young life.

As our reverence for life has diminished, so has our reverence for the institutions that surround and support it.

Scholars at the Brookings Institution observed in 1996 that Roe v Wade contributed to the collapse of marriage and the dramatic increase in out-of-wedlock births. The idea that children were part of a sacred institution called marriage started disappearing.

The sense of honor, the sense of shame disappears in this culture of self.

In 1965, seven years before Roe v Wade, less then 10 percent of American babies were born to unwed mothers – 24 percent to unwed black women and 3.1 percent to unwed white women. As of 2010, this was up to 41 percent of our babies born to unwed mothers – 73 percent to black women and 29 percent to white women.

Sixty percent of our out-of-wedlock births are to women in their 20’s.

Soon, as our resources diminish to care for our growing aging population, we will start dealing with our elderly as we do our unborn.

But if everything is meaningless, who cares?

The Youth on Abortion

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, has set their sights on college-aged women – preying on them in their moments of crisis and panic. We must expose Planned Parenthood as the big abortion business that they are — and show young people just how Planned Parenthood is profiting off of them.

According to research Students for Life of America published last June, a majority of young people do not even know Planned Parenthood does abortions, and often have a “favorable” view of the abortion Goliath.

This generation is opposed to abortion. Every poll confirms this fact. But when Planned Parenthood presents itself in the media and on campus, they never mention the dirty word “abortion” or their corrupt business model. That’s how they get their positive ratings from young people and lure them in.

After talking with former Planned Parenthood staffers like Abby Johnson and watching Planned Parenthood’s new strategy to distance themselves from the word ‘pro-choice’ because it’s too associated with the word abortion, we knew what we must do.

Starting this month, Students for Life of America is launching a year-long initiative called the Planned Parenthood Project to expose our nation’s abortion Goliath, hitting them at their weakest point – abortion.

It’s time this generation found out the truth. Students for Life is going to 8 campuses, in 8 states, in 8 days to show our generation what Planned Parenthood is really about: Abortion and Money. Our team is hitting the road, in a decorated minivan filled with 30,000 postcards, 5 large banners, and 915 “Planned Parenthood pink” crosses.

At every campus, we will place the 915 “Planned Parenthood Pink” crosses in the ground to show just how many lives the abortion Goliath takes every day – cutting their argument that abortions are only a small part of their business to the quick. Planned Parenthood is America’s biggest abortion business, killing almost 335,000 preborn babies a year.

Students will be forced to confront the magnitude of this number because the main area of their campuses will be filled with 915 pink crosses to show Planned Parenthood’s real plan for them.

We will drive over 3,500 miles for Life to begin the conversation our nation should have had decades ago on abortion and to expose Planned Parenthood’s real agenda very simply to their target audience, young people.

At each stop we will be passing out Students for Life postcards that detail Planned Parenthood’s 3 Step Plan for young people as well as the hard statistics of their dirty abortion business.

In short, here is Planned Parenthood’s plan for young people:

1) Planned Parenthood meets children in middle and high school, offering to teach sex education classes for teachers as a public service. During these classes, Planned Parenthood workers are careful not to bring up abortion, for they know the negative connotations that come with the word. However, they teach our young women and men that waiting until marriage is an impossible task and that when they are ready to become sexually active to trust them for their birth control and STD testing, and not tell their parents.

2) When children come to them, Planned Parenthood then provides poor-quality, faulty birth control that ensures their profits. Planned Parenthood’s condoms, for example, have the lowest possible ranking by Consumer Reports. Furthermore, statistics have proven that contraception does NOT lower abortion or STD rates. According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, 54% of women who have abortions used contraception during the month they became pregnant. STD rates are also skyrocketing, with 1 in 4 college students carrying at least one STD, and 1 in 2 sexually active people contracting an STD by age 25.

3) When their faulty birth control fails, Planned Parenthood coerces young women into thinking that abortion is their only way out — and Planned Parenthood kindly offers to sell them chemical or surgical abortions. They mislead through claims that abortion is a quick, easy solution to unexpected pregnancies and withhold pertinent information such as the mental and physical risks of abortion, including the scientifically proven abortion-breast cancer link.

Their plan is so successful that Planned Parenthood has a $1.2 billion budget, gets more than half a billion dollars of your tax money, and gains profits of over $300 million each year – $150 million of that from abortions alone.

As you can see, Planned Parenthood has a deadly, taxpayer-funded plan to profit off of this generation, and it’s time we fight back – one campus at a time, until Planned Parenthood is exposed.
